FAQS: Italy Program

WHEN DOES THE PROGRAM TAKE PLACE?

Our programs run once annually during the summer between June and August. The dates vary slightly year to year. In 2024, the Italy program will take place from June 24th to August 6th.

HOW MUCH DOES THE PROGRAM COST?

Program prices vary slightly from year to year. For 2024, the Italy program is priced at $2,250. The cost of airfare is not included in program tuition.

AM I ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?

While there is no country restriction to participate in the program, all program participants must either speak English as a first language, or have near-native ability in both written and spoken English (equivalent to a CEFR C1 or higher). Additionally, ideal candidates will have conversational language skills in Italian, equivalent to a CEFR level A2, or approximately two semesters of a language course. Finally, candidates will have some teaching experience, be it tutoring, coaching, as a camp counselor, or other equivalent experience.

Please contact us if you do not match these qualifications but are still interested in applying. We will be happy to discuss your case. As long as you are willing to pursue some independent language study prior to the program and seek out a volunteer teaching opportunity, we would happily consider you as a candidate.

There is no maximum age limit for the program, though you must be at least 18 years old to apply.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE COST OF THE PROGRAM?

Program tuition includes:

  • Three meals per day for the duration of the program

  • Cost of housing for the duration of the program

  • All domestic transportation

  • Emergency health insurance

  • Pre-departure language prep course

  • Pre-departure teaching prep course

  • Various day trips and cultural activities

  • Multi-day vacation

The program is priced such that participants will incur no expenses while in country, other than non-essential personal expenses. These might include desserts, souvenirs, and any other purchases that would not otherwise be necessary for the successful completion of the program. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us!

WHAT ARE THE ACCOMMODATIONS?

A key component of all of our programs are host family accommodations. We try for each participant to have their own host family, though depending on availability two participants may end up with the same family. In addition to the time spent with host families, we will also stay in Airbnb's or hotels when we travel as a group, and for the Italy program hotel accommodation will be provided for the duration of time spent at camp.

HOW DO I APPLY?
