FAQS

Useful Info

WHEN DOES THE PROGRAM TAKE PLACE?

The program runs once annually during the months of June and July. The dates vary slightly year to year. This year, the program will take place from June 19th to August 1st, 2023.

HOW MUCH DOES THE PROGRAM COST?

For 2023, the program has a price of $1995. The cost of airfare is not included in program tuition.

AM I ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?

Our ideal program candidates will have a conversational level of Italian as a minimum. This is equivalent to a CEFR level A2, or approximately two semesters of an Italian course. Additionally, an ideal candidate will have some teaching experience, be it tutoring, coaching, as a camp counselor, or other equivalent experience.

Please contact us if you do not match these qualifications but are still interested in the program. We will be happy to discuss your case. As long as you are willing to pursue some independent Italian language study prior to the program and seek out a volunteer teaching opportunity, we would happily consider you as a candidate.

There is no maximum age limit for the program, though you must be at least 18 years old to apply.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE COST OF THE PROGRAM?

Program tuition includes:

  • Three meals per day for the duration of the program

  • Cost of housing for the duration of the program

  • All domestic transportation

  • Emergency health insurance

  • Pre-departure Italian prep course

  • Pre-departure teaching prep course

  • Various day trips and cultural activities

  • Multi-day vacation to Florence and Cinque Terre

The program is priced such that participants will incur no expenses while in Italy, other than non-essential personal expenses. These might include desserts, souvenirs, and any other purchases that would not otherwise be necessary for the successful completion of the program. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us!

WHAT ARE THE ACCOMMODATIONS?

During our time in Italy, we will spend approximately 12 nights with an Italian host family. We try for each participant to have their own host family, though depending on availability two participants may end up with the same family. For the month we are at camp, we are housed in three and four star hotels. We are placed in staff rooms, which we will likely share with other Italian staff members. During our multi-day vacation in Florence and Cinque Terre, we will be staying in Airbnbs as a group.
